A native flowering shrub with a round habit. Kolomona will reach a maximum height around 5 feet at full maturity. Leaflets are oppositely arranged and are covered in pubescent hair, especially new growth and the leaflet top. Flowering occurs in the winter and spring and flower colors range from yellow to green. Flat and wide C-shaped seed pods follow flowering, which will be green at first and turn brown as it ripens.
Kolomona is a nitrogen-fixing, drought-tolerant plant that thrives in full sun. Propagation is by seed. Flowers are used for lei making and dye.
