Family: Asparagaceae
Mondo grass is a clumping grass-like herb. Native to the forest understories of Korea and Japan, mondo grass can grow in complete shade. A member of the asparagus family, it is not grass, although it is a turf substitute. And, no mowing or maintenance is required. It can be used as a groundcover or to line driveways, gardens, and other plantings. It is slow-growing. Propagation is from rhizomes.
