Beaumontia multiflora, commonly known as herald’s trumpet or Easter lily vine, is a stunning tropical climber native to Java and other parts of Southeast Asia. This vigorous, evergreen liana is prized for its large, glossy leaves and spectacular clusters of fragrant, white trumpet-shaped flowers. Due to its impressive ornamental appeal, it has been widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical gardens around the world as a dramatic flowering vine for fences, trellises, and arbors.

While herald’s trumpet is not currently known to be a major invasive threat, it does possess some characteristics that warrant caution. Its vigorous, climbing growth habit allows it to ascend high into tree canopies, where it could potentially smother native vegetation. The plant produces wind-dispersed seeds, which could facilitate spread into natural areas. Furthermore, it contains compounds that make it unpalatable to grazing animals. For these reasons, it should be planted with care and monitored for any signs of unwanted spread, especially in areas near sensitive native forests.
