- No reports of invasiveness or naturalization in the Hawaiian Islands to date, despite widespread cultivation
- Unarmed (no spines, thorns, or burrs)
- Non-toxic
- Ornamental
- Primarily spreads vegetatively, limiting long distance dispersal
