Family: Myrtaceae
Native to Australia, this small tree has a height and spread of up to 8 meters. The round-leaved moort is an excellent choice for parks and gardens. The bark is light and smooth, and its pale yellow flowers attract bees. Having many stems branching outwards, it often takes the appearance of a large shrub. The plant’s dense habit makes it useful as a windbreak or screen. The round-leaved mort is relatively fast-growing and responds well to pruning and coppicing. It can tolerate both well-drained and poorly-drained soils.
