Family: Asparagaceae
Lilyturf is a clumping herbaceous plant valued for its foliage. Grass-like green blades gently arch away from the clump center. Many cultivars exist, ranging in shades of green, variegation patterns, and size. Showy purple flowering spikes rise above the clumping foliage in the Fall. Native to China, lilyturf tolerates a wide range of conditions and soil types. It can grow in deep shade, although the blades will be leggy, and growth will be slower.
Lilyturf is an excellent border for sidewalks, garden edges, etc. It can be mass planted for use as a ground cover. Propagation is from rhizomes.
